History

The " Center of Tropical and Mediterranean Biology and Ecology" has been created in 1987 by Claude Combes and Bernard Salvat, then directors respectively of the " Laboratory of Animal Biology - University of Perpignan " and the " Laboratory of Marine Biology and Malacology -EPHE Paris" respectively.

Now

The Center houses the UMR 5244  CNRS-EPHE-UPVD "Tropical and Mediterranean Biology and Ecology" (Director André Théron) which depends from the Cnrs Scientific department "Environment and long-term development".
The UMR is divided in two research teams
"Functional and evolutive parasitology" (head Guillaume Mitta)
"Coral reefs" (head René Galzin)
