Technical information:
Pictures are identified by a unique name with no special meaning and categorized via keywords. These keywords are taxonomic units (i.e. order, sub-order, family, sub-family, tribe, genus) and capture station identifiers. The station identifiers are coded as replicate-station:net (Ex: 2-10:M3 for net 3 at station 10 during the second sampling period). Nets are unit MOCNESS nets and therefore sample different depths ranges:
- M1: 100-75 m
- M2: 75-50 m
- M3: 50-25 m
- M4: 25-0 m
Unidentified larvae are given a code with the following nomenclature:
- First position: number describing body height (BH) relative to body length (BL)
- 1: BD < 10% of BL
- 2: BD = 10-20% of BL
- 3: BD = 20-40% of BL
- 4: BD > 40% of BL
- Second position: letter describing gut length (for 1,2,3) or head size (for 4) relative to body length
- a: long gut or head and trunk broad
- b: moderate gut or head and trunk compressed
- c: short gut or no special head and trunk size
- Last position: a serial number for previous combination (Ex: 2a-1, 2a-2,...)
